“Living La Vita” in Lucca

My love affair with Italy began when I was 16. Just before I started university my mum and I took one of those whirlwind tours of Europe. Italy was the one place of all the places I visited that left its mark on me, so much so that I studied Italian and Art History at university with the dream of returning.

Life happened and I got side-tracked from this dream living in Canada and Scotland, but when I returned on a holiday many years later in 2009, the love I had all those years ago for Italy instantly hit me again. Since then, I have returned every opportunity I can and my love for Italy has only continued to grow.

I have always said that Italy is one of the most magnificent places on earth. After two years of Covid in Melbourne and the worlds longest lockdown I decided life was too short and it was time to fulfil my dream of living in Italy. And so I’ve upped sticks and moved to Lucca in Tuscany. My friends say I am so brave, but I wonder if I am crazy but time will only tell as I start to settle into my new hometown.
